Spring
Springhead-2004
This shows one of the spring heads in 2004 before it was cleared out and restored to running status again

springhead-2006
Here is the excavated springhead two years later with water running freely again. The chalk can be seen in the banks of the channel.

Agapetus
A small species of caddis fly that inhabits the watercourses of nine wells.

Analysis
Measurements of water quality can be made using handheld instruments which can give readings of ph and conductivity and this helps to provide an indication of the state of the water.

Polycelis
These flatworms that are glacial relicts of the last ice age were found in Nine Wells up to 1976. But unfortunately the spring dried up and led to the flat worms dieing out. The have been plans to reintroduce the worms from other springs in the Cambridge area. At present this is still under consideration.
