{"id":267,"date":"2015-11-02T17:00:27","date_gmt":"2015-11-02T17:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/duncan.mackay.co.uk\/hobsonsconduit\/?page_id=267"},"modified":"2015-12-04T15:41:16","modified_gmt":"2015-12-04T15:41:16","slug":"volunteers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/duncan.mackay.co.uk\/hobsonsconduit\/get-involved\/volunteers\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hobson\u2019s Conduit Trust Volunteer Group<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Max Field, Nick Coni and Richard Wells<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Every year, Hobson\u2019s Conduit Trust relies on volunteers to help keep the banks, paths and the brook itself, clear of rubbish so that those who\u00a0regularly use this route can enjoy the experience of travelling along this\u00a0ancient waterway.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the last few months, with the help of new recruits from the\u00a0Trumpington area, we have cleared the Nine Wells site in Great\u00a0Shelford, and along the brook from there to the Guided Busway, and we\u00a0are dealing with the Long Road to Lensfield road section at the present\u00a0time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2015, we removed some discarded pieces of ironwork, but also\u00a0various items of clothing including tee-shirts, a pair of socks, a pair of\u00a0jeans and even an odd shoe! This is in addition to the usual bottles,\u00a0cups, cans and pieces of fallen timber that find their way into the water.\u00a0As always, Cambridge Council have organized removal of all the material\u00a0we have collected, and we are grateful for their support.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The volunteers enjoy the social aspect of the work so after our efforts to\u00a0improve the environment, it is usual to provide refreshments are\u00a0provided as a reward. In addition, the Trustees and interested Council\u00a0personnel, provide briefings about Hobson\u2019s Conduit, its history and\u00a0development and the local wildlife in this important heritage area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thank you for reading this section of the website.
